It's official: The 'AINTS are back

Break out those sacks, New Orleans NFL fans, because THE 'AINTS ARE BACK. And if you don't believe it, read on ...

* The Bucs opened the season at home against a Tennessee team that finished last season with 10 straight losses, and they were buried 42-14 by the Titans. But the Bucs dominated the 'AINTS in the Superdome.

* The Bucs outscored, outrushed, outpassed and outtackled the 'AINTS. And even though the Bucs are always one of the most-penalized teams, the Bucs were assessed 90 yards in penalties while the 'AINTS lost 115 yards via penalties.

* The turnover-prone 'AINTS yielded points each time they turned the ball over, but couldn't score when the Bucs turned the ball over.

* 'AINTS quarterback Drew Brees had a QB rating of 80.5 for the game, while Bucs' rookie quarterback -- a big opening-game bust against the Titans -- had a 114.6 rating.

* The 'AINTS are already in the NFC South cellar. Obviously, it's early, but the 'AINTS already are two games back of Carolina and Atlanta and one (plus a head-to-head tiebreaker) behind the Bucs. And statistics indicate that teams that start 0-2 have only an 11 percent chance of being a playoff team.

Again, they couldn't beat Jameis Winston and the Bucs in the Superdome. Is there any doubt that THE 'AINTS ARE BACK?

After Week 5, the 'AINTS are still in the NFC South cellar, and they are even one game (plus a head-to-head tiebreaker) behind the pathetic Tampa Bay Bucs and substantially behind Atlanta and Carolina.

It doesn't bode well for the 'AINTS to have lost home games to the Bucs AND the Titans in the same season.

Ten weeks into the season, THE 'AINTS HAVE YIELDED 315 POINTS, which is 54 more than ANY other team has given up. And the 'AINTS are now officially back in the NFC cellar behind the woeful Tampa Bay Bucs. NOW, is there any question that THE 'AINTS ARE BACK?

Anyone now disagree that THE 'AINTS are back? Brian Hoyer outplays Brees, and the 'AINTS quarterback doesn't throw a TD pass for the first time in a long time as the Texans keep the 'AINTS behind the Bucs in the NFC South cellar.

Shouldn't the 'AINTS be able to win when they jump out ahead 14-0 and end up scoring 38 points?

But the 'AINTS sieve-like defense allows 41 points and continues to EASILY lead the NFL in points allowed. How can the offense keep the team competitive week to week when the defense allows 31.7 points per game?

As I posted early in the season, THE 'AINTS ARE BACK!

The 'AINTS could fall even farther into the NFC South cellar on Sunday ... and in fact, the normally-pathetic Bucs can guarantee finishing higher than the 'AINTS in the final standings with a win (that would give them a 3-game lead over the 'AINTS with a tie-breaker, even if the Bucs were to finish 0-3 and the 'AINTS went 3-0).

In today's Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune, a preview article on tomorrow's Bucs vs. 'AINTS game is appropriately headlined ...

Saints' defense is just bad

At least in the first half tonight (Dec. 21), the season of THE 'AINTS remains in full swing. With a chance to get the ball into the end zone from the Lions' 1 at the end of the first half, the 'AINTS came away with no points, in part because of crucial penalties.
