HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Emitt Rhodes, born 69 years ago today (Feb. 25) in Decatur, Ill. A far-underrated singer and multi-instrumentalist (drums, guitar, piano, percussion), he fronted the group Merry-Go-Round, and here, the Los Angeles band performs a medley of three hits from the mid-1960s: "Live", "You're A Very Lovely Woman" and "Listen, Listen" …

What the hell show was Don Knotts hosting here?????

Wow, that song "Listen, Listen has all the overtones of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Back in the day we used to cover Fresh as a Daisy.

Dear Greg T:

The show -- which ran from 1963 to 1970 -- was called The Hollywood Palace, and they had a different host every week. And some examples of the wide variety of hosts: Bing Crosby, Milton Berle, Buddy Ebsen, George Burns, Burl Ives, Phyllis Diller, Sammy Davis Jr., Jimmy Durante, Phil Silvers, Nat King Cole, Petula Clark and Herb Alpert.
