Mini-editorial: Illegal immigrants must face consequences

Whereas many Democrats and liberals imply that immigrants are honest and trustworthy, they ignore two very important words: legal and employment. And in that regard, they ignore the fact that it's against the law to employ illegal immigrants.

Most legal immigrants went to an immigration office, carrying all requested information, including birth certificate, certification of a full physical examination, and a self-penned letter of intent to become a citizen after attending citizenship classes. The entire process of gaining legal entry and eventually becoming a U.S. citizen often takes years.

If people break the law by entering any country and opt to live in the shadows for the rest of their lives, they should be prepared to face the ultimate consequences of their law-breaking.

Fact is, if they're going to drag the kids here and use them for benefits, they should be punished for endangerment while they're here. Personally, I can't understand WHY we have to detain them at all. They came, they broke the law, either imprison them immediately or send them home. Their choice.

I'm all for being fair. I think they should have to choose prison or a ride home.

I have a better solution. We take all the deadbeats and criminals, strip their citizenship from them and give it to an immigrant who wants to come here to work hard, be a good citizen of the USA, and make a good life for themselves. We give the immigrant the previous deadbeat/criminal's citizenship and tax ID (SS#), then deport the deadbeat/criminal to whatever country the immigrant came from.

Deportation would only be for repeat offenders doing time for non-violent crimes, the homeless/street beggars, and able bodied long time wellfare recipients.

Violent criminals would be permanently removed from the world upon loss of citizenship.
