Pelosi's $3 trillion 'coronavirus relief bill' contains sickening amount of pork

Amnesty for illegal immigrants, bailouts for mismanaged states and aid for lobbyists are just a few of items contained in Nancy Pelosi’s latest “rescue” package, which was passed in the House last night (May 15) with only one Republican vote.

The bill was drafted in secret without any input from Republicans. Even some Democrats criticized the bill for its “high cost, extraneous provisions, and lack of bipartisan support.”

'I can't be bothered about what others say': Pelosi defends unrelated project funding in coronavirus relief bill

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi dismissed Republican critics of the new coronavirus relief package unveiled by House Democrats this week, saying she “can’t be bothered” about what other people say.

“Your Republican counterpart, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, called it a liberal wish list of a bunch of items that you wanted to have passed even before the coronavirus pandemic happened,” CNN’s Jake Tapper said to Pelosi about criticism’s of the $3 trillion relief package proposed by Democrats. “What's your response to that? I mean, is this very specifically coronavirus-focused, or are there things in here that have nothing to do with it?”

“He knows that what he said isn't so,” Pelosi responded. “Putting that aside, I can't be bothered about what others say. What I'm proud of is what we are doing. And the fact is that in all four of the bills that have passed before, they've all been bipartisan.”

Pelosi continued, “We've all, in our caucus, have agreed that everything is coronavirus-centric, and also, in a timely way that relates to the virus. It's too deadly to our lives, to our livelihood, to our democracy, for us to use it for any other purpose.”

McCarthy and others have called out Democrats for including millions of dollars for, what Republicans consider, unrelated projects in the bill, which is meant to provide coronavirus relief.

Those projects include $50 million in funding for “environmental justice” grants, $40 million for “bio surveillance of wildlife,” $25 billion for the U.S. Postal Service, an automatic review to determine whether or not illegal immigrants currently detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement should be released, and coronavirus relief funds for illegal immigrants.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has deemed the bill “dead on arrival” in the U.S. Senate.

"What you've seen in the House [from] Nancy is not something designed to deal with reality, but designed to deal with aspirations. This is not a time for aspirational legislation, this is a time for practical response to the coronavirus pandemic," McConnell said Tuesday.

Republican Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso added that the bill is a “payoff” to Pelosi’s constituents, and it will “never pass” through the Senate.

And the fact that most of them voted by proxy just proves that they are non-essential. BUT, what they've done is illegal and I would assume this will be challenged. I believe 218 members is the minimum needed to qualify as a quorum and proxies do not count. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Dear Greg T:

That's the way it should be, and that was required until yesterday, when the Democrat-controlled House approved rules changes allowing members to vote via proxy.

But aren't those rules in the constitution? If so, that would mean an amendment to the constitution is needed to change those rules. Wouldn't that mean approval from the Senate and President as well?

I am trying to understand why any American would align with the Democrat party. Both parties are pretty much arrogant elitists, but why align with a socialist? Democrats are downright ruthless and only mention/twist the constitution when it benefits them. Regardless, they still couldn’t care less about the constitution. They hate the idea of free speech. Look at all the censorship. They are in full melt down mode. The Narrative is being challenged. If a Democrat can explain this- I will listen. Why are you reaching for Communism? It makes no sense.

Especially when it's been proven repeatedly that it always ends in failure, poverty, starvation and death.

With regard to remote voting, it is being authorized by Democrats, but it leaves itself open to the vulnerability of such a system to fraud and the possibility of outside (hacking) attacks.
