[EDITOR'S NOTE: I just received this on Facebook from my Congressman (Vern Buchanan), and I agree 100% with what he said, so I'm re-posting it here.]

Lois Lerner will forever share a special place in American history.

She is the disgraced IRS official who oversaw the intentional targeting of individuals and organizations whose conservative politics were at odds with the Obama Administration. Even nonprofits that sought to educate Americans about the U.S. Constitution were unfairly singled out for harassment and scrutiny.

Lerner betrayed the nation's trust yet managed to avoid accountability and criminal charges.

But I have “good” news.

Four years after being caught red-handed, the Internal Revenue Service has finally issued a profound and heartfelt statement to the American public: Sorry.

Well the actual wording was "the IRS expresses its sincere apology."

I can sum up my response with three simple words: Apology not accepted.

The American people needs to know they can be critical of their government without fear of retribution from the heavy hand of the IRS. Heads need to roll and people need to be held accountable for this gross abuse of power.

We can start with Ms. Lerner.
