This Avalanche crime ring infected many computers and used them to commit various cyber crimes on the internet and was just shut down by the US Govt. Infected users will be unaware of any illegal use of their computers but computers will still have the virus. US Govt advises to check your computer with various free anti-malware, examples in the links to follow.
