Again I say ... Isn't it great in the Sunshine State?

Just before 7 a.m., the current temperature in Sarasota, Fla., is a pleasant 72 degrees, and ONLY ONCE this season has the temperature dropped below 60 degrees (with one night having dropped to 57).

Take a look at our long-range forecast, and as of now, we'll get all the way to Nov. 27 (the day after Thanksgiving) with no high temperatures below 75 and no lows below 60. Further, since the year 1900, the lowest temperature ever on any Nov. 13 date was 41 degrees in 1991.

I lived in N. Florida for 18 years. Its too damn hot. I think I might be able to live on the Panhandle again, maybe Pensecola or PCB, as they don't see the humidity that Jacksonville get. Interestingly enough, here in N. Alabama we had a hotter summer than in Jacksonville because they seemed to get alot of rain over the summer. The nice thing here is we do get to see fall color for about a week or two.

I'd actually like to move back just to be closer to family but there isn't much in the way of electrical or computer engineering going on in Florida anymore, especially since NASA slowed down. We are also supposed to get 50,000 more jobs in the next 5 years according to local leaders, the Army, and the FBI. This city can't deal with the influx of that many people.

Think about it. Barring something unforeseen, we're going to go through the entire month of November with NO LOW TEMPERATURES BELOW 60!

Dear Djarum300:

Without question, I'd rather be "too damned hot" than suffer through months of miserable winter weather, as I did for all of my early years!
We rarely get snow here. Coldest it's been in 20 years is 5 degrees and that happened once. Most days in the winter are mid to up 40s with lowes in the mid 20s.

Dear Djarum300:

The first time I was ever in Huntsville was when I bowled in the Rocket City Classic and the Southern Conference tournaments in March of 1975, and was COLD AND SNOWY on the three days I was there.

In fairness, I've been to Huntsville a number of times since then -- including a trip to the ABC Nationals in 1997 -- and the weather has been moderate (for the respective season) on those occasions.

Rocket city classic was still going on when I quit bowling in 2014.

We get a dusting most years. We had record foot of snow in January of 15. We had 8 inches in January of 11.

Both very rare events. We have more issues with ice than anything.

I was 8 years old when we had a significant snow Xmas of 89 in Jacksonville FL.

Huntsville damn, that's where I took basic training and my MOS school, Ft McClellan Alabama back in 1982.
That's near Anniston. Redstone arsenal is growing immensely. FBI is moving onto the base. Most of the base is used for R and D. Very little army presence unlike most army bases.

General Perna was the head of AMC which is based out of RSA before going to operation lightspeed.

That's right, I was confused. Huntsville was outside of Ft. Stewart GA.
