Cali is such a wonderful place

California has so many wonderful 2024 presidential candidates ... Adam Schiff, Maxine Watters, Kamala Harris among them.

This type of stuff makes me wonder why Reps are so against abortion. The more of these lowlifes you keep from being born the better. Easier to end their life of crime before they are born than it is after.

Well, the problem is that when the fetus is forming, we have no way of knowing how the child will turn out. not fair to abort what could possibly be another Tesla, or DiVinci, maybe an Einstein. I think it better to declare an open season on looters and slimeballs because we already KNOW who they are!

... but if you were a newspaper editorial writer, you could never write a column to that effect!

... and just think what an uproar would result if you could know whether or not an unborn child was going to be gay, prompting some parents to abort the child for THAT reason!

It already makes me sick to think about how many babies have been killed in the last few decades, and how many of them may have been the "one" to take us into the REAL space age of warp speed and lightyear journeys.

I get where you're coming from and respect the value you place on life, but for every Tesla, DaVinci, etc., there are millions and millions of deadbeat losers.

I look at it from a different point of view - would I want to exist if I had a choice in my own existence (knowing what I would be born into)? My family wasn't rich, but my parents both held jobs and were able to provide. I didn't have a lot of toys, certainly none of the "cool" ones, and never had trendy clothes. That said, we weren't living in squalor, I never went hungry, and neither of my folks were drug addicts nor abusive. While I didn't have the big leg up on life that the rich kids had, the deck wasn't stacked against me either. I had a fair chance to make something of my life, even if modest.

Had it been different... say my Dad was never around, both parents were hopeless drug addicts, homeless, or lived in filth. Stealing was a way of life and dealing with criminal organizations to make/sell illegal drugs (or people) was the most stable career choice available. I'd rather be aborted before I knew I existed than to grow up/live like that. It's more humane - we don't make dogs and cats live like that, so why should we make humans do it? (That last sentence also touches on end of life decisions too, but that's a whole other topic).

I guess my view is that, yes, life CAN BE a wonderful gift, even if it's not an extravagant life. It can also be a horrible curse.

It's interesting that some countries have even stricter abortion laws.

What I don't get is this. In some states, if a mother wants an abortion, it's not a homicide. Yet those same states if a baby dies when a mother is killed or hurt in the act of a crime, it's considered homicide? This fails logic. Why should it matter how or who wants the fetus/unborn baby dead?

I can't say that I totally disagree with that. I DO understand exactly what you're saying. BUT, my idea is that there very well could have been an extremely intelligent person, or many more, who were capable of leading the world to a place where abortion was not needed nor desired. The terrible truth is that we'll never know.
