On the flip side, while yes it does suck, it may have saved a ton of votes and helped keep the red tide intact for November. Essentially, they took away a significant negative talking point for the left that could potentially sway a fair portion of independent voters back to voting blue.

Depending on what the final bill looks like (I haven't seen it yet) some minor, token concessions here may pay big dividends in November.
