Saw this. Wasn't a huge fan of roy Moore but this doesn't surprise me. The Dems will pay anything to get their candidate in. 8+ mill is chump change for some super PAC. The issue is that the allegations weren't defaming in and of themselves, it was that the way the ad was put together it appeared as if he was soliciting for sex in the mall which were never alleged

Doug Jones was getting in regardless of the ad or the allegations. Many moderate Republicans were turned off by Moore from things he had said and done previously. The issue at that time was that Luther Strange had a bad connotation with association to Bentley and most die hard Republicans (who actually vote primaries) got Roy Moore in.

After the Doug Jones dibacle Republican primary turnout increased by about 15 percent.
