Will Cain was reporting that they were not able a week after the fire to go to Lahaina. He was able to go because he had a house there but police were preventing journalist from going.
I will say that this isn't really new. We had ef5 destroy neighborhoods and local police were denying access except homeowners. This was so journalists and looky loos weren't impeding rescue and cleanup.
