It was entertainment night at the Senior Citizens Center, and after the community sing-along, it was time for the star of the show, Claude the Hypnotist.

Claude explained that he was going to put the entire audience into a trance. The excited chatter quickly turned to silence as Claude carefully withdrew a beautiful antique gold pocket-watch and chain from his waistcoat pocket.

"I want all of you to keep your eyes on this watch," said Claude, holding the watch up high for all to see. "It's a very special and valuable watch that has been in my family for six generations."

He began to swing the watch back and forth gently while quietly murmuring, "Watch the watch ... Watch the watch … Watch the watch."

The audience gradually became mesmerized as the watch swayed back and forth and the ceiling lights twinkled on its gleaming surfaces.

Nearly 150 pair of eyes followed the movements of the gently swaying watch, and In a short time, they were all hypnotized.

Then, suddenly, the chain broke, and the beautiful, antique watch fell to the stage and burst apart on impact.

"SHIT!," said Claude.

It took them three days to clean up the Senior Citizens Center, and needless to say, Claude was never invited there again.
