Mini-editorial: House-passed bill not what Dems, media say it is

Not surprisingly, the fake-news lamestream media is referring to Nancy Pelosi's left-wing bailout bill as "COVID relief" -- but that's hardly the case.

It may be touted as such, but in actuality, it contains billions of dollars to bail out poorly run pension plans and billions more for mismanaged Blue states, not to mention giveaways to well-off people who are doing just fine during the pandemic.

And we shouldn't ignore the $100 million for an underground rail system in Pelosi’s backyard and a bridge connecting Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s home state of New York with Canada.

Another key negative is the possibility of deep cuts to Medicare. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has warned that the bill could trigger a $36 billion cut in Medicare funding. Furthermore, adding $1.9 trillion to the already-existing $28 trillion federal debt jeopardizes the solvency of both Medicare and Social Security.

The Senate should force Pelosi and Schumer back to the drawing board to produce a targeted bill that focuses solely on vaccine distribution and assistance for those truly in need.

Ridiculously, less than 10 percent of this $1.9 trillion so-called "COVID relief" bill goes toward COVID. We can, and must, do better!
