Oh, no! The hurricane forecast is never right

There was a startling headline on today's front page, reading: FORECASTERS PREDICT SLOW HURRICANE SEASON.

And it's startling because this is the first time in decades that the so-called weather "experts" have issued such a prediction. Year after year, the pre-season forecast calls for a hearty hurricane season, presumably to keep Floridians (and others in hurricane-prone areas) not to be complacent. After all, no hurricane has hit Florida in 10 years.

But because the experts don't seem to ever be correct, residents of the Sunshine State had better be on guard for a heavy dose of hurricanes (and hurricane threats).

Yeah, you better keep your eyes peeled and the car packed/full of gas this year!

Joking aside, it only takes one good one making landfall to muck things up for a lot of people.

Just west of Chicago got hit with a EF4 Tornado Thursday nite...One small town was just about wiped out...
Lucky for all that warnings were out in time for people to take cover...

It was the first EF4 in April since 1981...and before that was the big one of 1967...

That's for sure. Fortunately, although living in Florida for 49 years, there has only been one minor hurricane (way back in 1968) that made a direct hit on my area, but that doesn't mean we're safe from an even-bigger hit sometime in the future -- perhaps even this summer.
