Police Mistake Students' Telescope For Rifle

"Police say the students were never in danger..."

Yeah, but they thought it was another student pranking them telling them to not move. What would have happened if they had ignored the warning? Anytime someone points a loaded weapon at you, you should consider yourself in danger.

Must have been a small telescope. The ones I have are rather large, and look nothing like a rifle.

Don't see how anyone could mistake that telescope for a rifle. As to following the Police orders, it's always best to do exactly as told. Things can always be straightened out later after everyone feels safe.
