And the argument will never end. Who was really responsible for Louie, Louie being a hit? I knew Kent Morrill (of the Fabulous Wailers) and to his dying day he claimed responsibility. The Wailers, The Kingsmen, and Paul Revere all were in at the beginning of Louie, louie.

Indeed, although Richard Berry's original recording of "Louie, Louie" wasn't released until the spring of 1957, Berry had penned the song in 1955.
