Under Obama, America roars but retreats when going gets tough

The breaking news about American and Italian hostages killed in a drone strike may remind us that there is no longer a U.S. attempt to build law and order throughout the world.

Imagine how the liberals would have reacted had George W. Bush ordered a campaign of targeted assassinations via drone strikes.

By tacitly conceding Barack Hussein Obama's decision to expend drone strikes, liberals have, in essence, adopted Bush's contention that terrorists are enemy combatants and that we are at war with them.

Many people around the world wonder if Obama's support of drone strikes is just another sign of U.S. decline. Keep in mind that American power and/or weakness is often a matter of perception.

U.S. withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan can be interpreted as a sign of American weakness, and Muslim extremists see such weakness as an opportunity to expand worldwide jihad.

Muslims and worldwide leaders increasingly perceive a weak America that roars but retreats when the going gets tough. And the eventual "cost" of such perceived U.S. weakness will prove greater than what Obama (and Americans, in general) likely anticipate and hope for.
