It's obvious that a large number of Americans don't like Donald Trump, many don't like Hillary Clinton, and quite a few don't like either.

In essence, that makes the choice for many between "the lesser of two evils." And in that respect, there's a huge difference.

Trump has SAID some terrible and inappropriate things. Hillary has DONE some terrible and inappropriate things.

In lieu of voting third party or not voting at all, the choice should be obvious.

the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know.

Like you said, Trump has said some bad things, and the only reason he has just said bad things is that he is not in a position of power to do things.
