Actually, if we review facts, it's Al Gore's fault. Everyone was happy after Slick Willy's 8 years of boom times thanks to Silicon Valley, and what do the Democrats do? They run one of the least likeable weasels they could put out there then wonder why Bush won (although they seem to do this on a regular basis, re: John Kerry, Hillary Clinton). Anyway, if Al Gore wasn't such a worthless peckerhead, he'd have easily won the election and we would never have had Bush, 9/11, global warming, ISIS, Katrina, Obama, the Bird Flu, 5 Patriots Super Bowl wins, nor Trump!
