By 2020, all fast-food products will be fried-chicken-based. First KFC replaced buns with fried chicken. Then Burger King booted the potato in favor of Chicken Fries. And on Wednesday, Taco Bell announced its intention to replace the taco shell with, you guessed it, fried chicken. Kotaku reports Taco Bell started testing its Naked Chicken Chalupa—wherein the shell a folded disc of fried chicken—in California in 2015 and Colorado in 2016. But the fast-food chain is taking it national on Jan. 26, according to Grub Street. The $2.99 Naked Chicken Chalupa is filled with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and an avocado-ranch sauce, giving it what executives call a "health halo." Not content to rest on its chicken-fried laurels, Taco Bell is already testing out "Crispy Chicken Chips" in California, Business Insider reports.
