Russia Has Reportedly Violated Major Nuke Treaty

Sen. John McCain says Russia is "testing" President Trump by deploying an operational cruise missile in violation of a Cold War-era nuclear treaty. Officials tell the New York Times that Russia has two battalions of the cruise missile inside the country—one at an operational base and another at a test site at Kapustin Yar—which is banned under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty signed by the US and Russia in 1987. Russia—accused by the Obama administration of testing said missile in 2014—has tried to escape the agreement in recent years, with Vladimir Putin claiming in 2013 that "nearly all of our neighbors are developing these kinds of weapons systems." However, it has denied any violations and accused the US of its own breaches.

A NATO official says non-compliance with the treaty banning ground-launched intermediate-range and short-range missiles "is a serious concern for the alliance" but "NATO allies have the capabilities in place to ensure that Russia will not gain any military advantage." Still, some—including McCain—are calling for the US to take action by expanding missile defenses in Europe or deploying its own nuclear missiles, per the BBC. The State Department says Russia "remains in violation" of the treaty but has not said how it plans to respond. In recent days, Russia has also placed a spy ship in international waters off Delaware and flown aircraft within 1,000 yards of a US Navy warship in the Black Sea, reports CNN. Russia has denied that the flybys took place.

Mostly False: Hillary Clinton gave Russia 20 percent of the United States’ uranium

Trump said he will be in a better position to work with Russia than Hillary Clinton would have been, based on her record as secretary of state.

"We had Hillary Clinton try and do a reset," he said. "We had Hillary Clinton give Russia 20 percent of the uranium in our country. You know what uranium is, right?"

Trump made this claim during the election, and we rated it Mostly False.

This is a reference to the fact that Russia’s nuclear power agency bought a controlling interest in a Toronto-based company. That company has mines, mills and tracts of land in Wyoming, Utah and other U.S. states that amount to about 20 percent of U.S. uranium production capacity (not produced uranium). Clinton was secretary of state at the time, but she didn’t have the power to approve or reject the deal.

Not so fast:

"But the untold story behind that story is one that involves not just the Russian president, but also a former American president and a woman who would like to be the next one.

At the heart of the tale are several men, leaders of the Canadian mining industry, who have been major donors to the charitable endeavors of former President Bill Clinton and his family. Members of that group built, financed and eventually sold off to the Russians a company that would become known as Uranium One."

Well, then that was wrong, but it all worked out okay in the end, as Putin is Trump's best bud and they work well together. If Clinton had not done it, Trump would have, right?
:)

Only if he or one his companies could make a profit off of it. He is already making a profit off of the White House.
