President Trump revived his assault on the news media Monday with one of his strangest claims: The media are covering up terrorist attacks.

Speaking to troops at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla., Trump made reference to terrorist attacks and said:

"You've seen what happened in Paris and Nice. All over Europe it's happening. It's gotten to a point where it's not even being reported. And in many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn't want to report it. They have their reasons and you understand that."

Trump, who has attacked the media throughout his campaign and the beginning of his presidency, did not elaborate on his claim.

Few things get more attention on cable television news than terrorist attacks.

Asked about Trump's comments, White House spokesman Sean Spicer said that "we'll provide a list later," and "there’s a lot of instances that have occurred where I don’t think they’ve gotten the coverage it deserved.”

Trump's comments drew scorn on social media.

The Bowling Green Massacre was not covered by the US media as the White House previously stated numerous times.
