The tariffs were a bad decision...they then caused problems for farmers...and now taxpayers will have to pay to fix it.

Back in the day, this would be called socialism. Now it’s just terrible policy.

One thing that can not be disputed....if a Democrat President instituted tariffs and then proceeded to give a $12 Billion dollar bailout to clean up the inevitable disaster, the Republicans in Congress would lose their minds but Trump does it and they say little to nothing.

It used to be this belief system was only espoused by the Bernie Sanders wing of the Democrat party and nowhere else.

Now it’s mainstream thought of the Republican Party as well.....showcases how the power of one personality can change entire belief systems.

I would prefer we go back to non-genetically modified farming and hormone/antibiotic free livestock to improve the QUALITY of our own food. To hell with mass producing tasteless shit for the whole world. This is one area Europe has it right! I could not believe how much fresher and more flavorful the food tasted in Greece than here. Fruits and vegetables were vibrant and full of flavor - not dull and bland. Our USDA is a bought and paid for joke!

But I digress. You are right, it was an uproar when Obama gave Iran billions to appease them. At least in this instance the money is going to US Citizens (HA! More likely the corporate farm empires - but then, I guess corporations are people too...)

Farmers here will just adjust crops. I remember when corn was rolling with ethanol prices and now as soy prices drop they'll find something else.

Why should America get bent over from China and Europe?
