I think they're wrong, or they need to specify which species of Oak tree doesn't produce acorns for 50 years. There are several in our neighborhood (one in my own yard) that are well under age 50 (closer to 10-15 years old) and produce acorns in abundance every year.

If I were to guess, I would guess Pin Oaks for 50 years as they are a real slow growing tree.

I could see that. I think ours is a red oak. There's one or two others that have those as well, but most people around here have those live oaks. I don't like those personally. Little leaves and scraggly branches. The Red Oak is a much better looking tree IMO.
