Well, it's no wonder. Today's bowlers practice harder, longer, more intensely than ever and are bigger, stronger, and faster than any bowlers before them. It's no wonder records are falling all over the place. Today's bowler is simply a far superior athlete to the keglers of yesteryear.

That must be true. I carried the highest average in my association (among approximately 7,000 members) on a half-dozen occasions, yet I never carried an average higher than 199. Then again, my best years came way back when (as you imply) bowlers were inferior to the modern-day high-rollers.
