I am actually for this, but not how it got there. It got there by an executive order instead of through congress.
Full time employees can be called "salaried" and don't get a dime of overtime if they made over 23K. I'm sorry, but someone who is making 30K in a non-supervisor or manager role shouldn't be salaried and should have the ability to get overtime. I know with my previous job that there were full time employees who were "salaried" and couldn't get overtime making barely 28K. This does put businesses in a bind, but I think since the law hadn't been updated in years that it was being abused that I'm ok with it.. Keep in mind not all employers do this. Many employers hirer non-exempt full time salaried employees making well above the old 23K threshold.
