The NBA All-Star game has turned into a pure garbage spectacle that isn't worth watching. A score of 192-182 this year and 196-173 last year. Ridiculous!
There's no such thing as All-Star game defense any more. Take note of the following:
* The victorious West team put up 143 shots this year and 149 shots in 2016, while the East attempted 137 shots both years.
* Defense? What defense? In the past TWO All-Star games, there has been only 15 free-throw attempts, even though there were all those shot attempts.
* In the past two All-Star games, 261 three-point shot attempts, including 80 by the West in 2016.
* The West has now had seven consecutive 12-minute periods in which it has scored 47 points or more.
If things keep going in that direction, it might eventually be almost as ridiculous as two "sporting events" involving aging world leaders: 73-year-old Chinese dictator Mao Tse-tung's world-record swimming exploits in the Yangtze River in 1966, and 63-year-old Russian leader Vladimir Putin's seven-goal performance in a 2015 hockey match.
