Allbowling or Ballreviews: Which will be declared officially dead first?

Sadly, the days of active bowling discussion forums are coming to an end, if they aren't already.

This allbowling.com forum used to be quite active with many posts and regular participants, but obviously that's no longer the case. And for a time, there were popular forums conducted by USBC and the PBA -- not to mention BBE, ballreviews.com and a few others.

Most have been dead for quite some time, but there are a few deathbed gasps remaining here on AB and over on BR. Which of the latter two will be declared dead, leaving just one standing?

As you can certainly see, the current activity is virtually non-existent here, but it's even worse on BR. There's at least one AB member (me) online as I post this, but I just took a look at BR, and there are NO members online over there.

Since New Year's Day at BR, there have been a few -- very few -- posts on the Equipment Boards, and as for Miscellaneous discussions, the most-recent posts came on Jan. 2, and on the Beginners Board, there was only one post on Jan. 12 and on reply on Jan. 14.

Therefore, since Jan. 1, I've posted more often than everyone else combined in AB and BR. So will we at AB be a part of the last one standing?

One thing's for sure. Hardly anyone will care or notice!

Can't stop folks from dropping out. Unfortunately, some folks are much too sensitive and take things the wrong way. The majority of internet media frequenters are all smiles when everyone agrees with them, but as soon as there's a disagreement, someone has to be offended or "picked on" and pissed off. When the active members is down to 3 or 4 you just kinda run out of steam and everyone already knows what everyone else is thinking. I put in way too much time trying to revive this place by sending out PMs, emails, and looking for folks on FB, trying to get them to stop by and try again. Most said they would but never showed up, and others just told me to fuck off. There were a couple who came in on their own, made two or three posts and then disappeared. As the song goes ... "Turn turn turn".

Basically, I just quit giving a shit when a handful of folks thought i was being partial to certain people. It wasn't true but I could not explain to them WHY and how the issue was developing. Truthfully, I don't even know why I'm still here now and then. I guess it's because I saved it once, took a lot of my time and effort and I don't want to throw that away.

Dear Greg T:

Thanks for your well-stated response. You have made yeoman attempts to revive or keep this forum going, but it's becoming obvious that it's a fruitless pursuit.

You attempted to make this site different from the other sites that allowed no-holds-barred personal attacks, but apparently, such forums -- even moderated properly -- don't seem to draw much attention any more.

I don't think you could have done better in your attempts to revive AB, sut take solice in the knowledge that you gave your best. I appreciate it, but apparently few others did.

Appreciate the kind words, Bill. I did what I could, the best way I knew how. I didn't expect to please everyone, but I thought we could at least coi-exist. I guess some folks just aren't mature enough to agree to disagree. I'll hang around for a bit, simply because I don't quit. If one quits he'll know what could have been. I'll be here til it goes away. ... OR, comes back to life.

I'm spending a lot of time on radio now. I check in here nearly every day, but with a couple of us left there isn't much point.

Yes, propagation has been good lately. Although, solar disturbances can be frustrating.. Orlando HamCation was great once we got the water leaks in the camper repaired. Good thing we arrived a few days early to get everything tidied up. We had a terrible ice and snow storm the week before and didn't realize the main water filter had frozen split practically in half. It also took out the float assembly in one of the toilets. After repairs were complete we just laughed it off. Headed to Winter Park and visited our favorite Italian restaurant downtown for good food and wine.. A rocket was launched one morning (I was told) yet I slept through it. That was disappointing.. Greg, I was able to sell the FTdx10 and bought a new IC-7300mk2. Much more comfortable with the design. On air performance is similar, though. SDR is here to stay it seems.

I guess Facebook has pretty much ruined many hobby forums. That and some psycho people.

I pared down all my equipment. Got rid of the Yaesus and tuners and a lot of shit I rarely used. I went the export direction and narrowed everything to a Stryker 955 HPC+, Texas Star DX-500 and a Sirio 2008. This spring I'll install a V-Quad to round it out and call it good. I did run a mixer into the Stryker and use an AKG C-410 headset for a mic. No more leaning over for a desk mic. I sit back in a bar stool and remotely key up. Been working on a new QSL card as well. Not sure which one I like better

There has been such little "action" in this forum, so I just took a little break from it, but I decided to return and I'll resume my participation as long as a few of you diehards are willing to interact here.

I'm actually feeling better than I have in some time, although recently I had a heart cath that resulted in the insertion of six stents. Way back in 2002, I had five-way bypass surgery, and until this year, my heart remained stable during each of my yearly visits to my cardiologist, but he noticed potential problems in a couple of tests this year, so he recommended a heart cath that resulted in the aforementioned procedure.

At any rate, as of today, I'm resuming my forum participation, and I look forward to rejoining the last active members of a once-thriving forum. At least, this one outlasted BBE, BR, bowl.com, PBA.com and the others.

I bop in now and then to see if anyone dropped a nugget. I'm the lowly store keeper so I'll be here til she folds.

Dear Greg:

It would appear that we're down to "The Final Four" active participants in this forum, but I plan to remain active even if we eventually become The Final Two.
